Mrs. Louie Steglich's Grandmother Dies
Mrs. Nannie Ann Beard, 76, passed away at 5:08 p.m., Jan. 8 at the home of her son, Robt. C. Beard (in Granger, Texas) after an illness of about three months. She was born west of Bartlett July 4, 1866. Before her marriage to Jim Beard in the spring of 1882, she was Nannie Ann Bingham. Mrs. Beard has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Granger for a number of years. She passed away on the birthday of her son and daughter-in-law,Robert and Maude Beard. Surviving Mrs. Beard are 3 daughters, Mrs. C.H. Modesette, Mrs. John Spiars of Granger, Mrs. H.B. Durant of Cleburne; and three sons, Robert of Granger, Colonel of Lexington and Earl of Pueblo, Colo. One son Johnnie, died in infancy. One brother, John Bingham of Santa Anna, Texas, survives. Mrs. Beard is also survived by thirty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. January 9 at the Granger Baptist church with Rev. L.G. Ramey, pastor of the Granger Baptist church, assisted by Rev. Theo. Barton and Rev. W.T. Boulwane officiating. Interment was made in the Granger cemetery. Mrs. Beard's granddaughters were flower girls and husband's of her granddaughters were pallbearers. The pallbearers were as follows: Louie Steglich, Wesley Johnson, Cecil Tidwell, Eddie Jones, Walter Poppelz and Freddie Nunnery.
Her husband, James Poey Beard also predeceased her. He is buried beside her in the Granger City Cemetery.
