Truett Beard, 78, of Granger, died Saturday at his residence.

Services are set for 2:00 PM Monday, December 23, 2002 at First Baptist Church, Granger with Rev. David Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Granger City Cemetery.

George Truett Beard, Sr. was born August 18, 1924 in Taylor to Colonel and Mary (Bryan) Beard. He was a lifetime resident of Granger. Truett served in the Navy during World War II. He began working for First State Bank of Granger, in 1945. He married Pauline Martinka, January 18, 1947, in Granger. Truett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Granger, Granger Lions Club, was a Director and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for First State Bank and was currently Chairman Emeritus, also of First State Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline of Granger, son; George Truett Beard, Jr. of Pryor, OK, sisters; Ruth Nunnery and Ivy Jewel Tittle, both of Granger, grandson, George Truett Beard, III and several nieces and nephews.
