Aaron Hazelwood, Jr., was born on October 16, 1938, to the union of Aaron Hazelwood, Sr., and Patricia Pearson-Hazelwood of MS.

Mr. Hazelwood received his formal education at McNair High School in Belzoni, MS.

Mr. Hazelwood accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was united with Friendship Baptist Church in Milwaukee, WI; where he served as a Deacon and later joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Belzoni, MS; where he continued to serve as a Deacon.

Aaron Hazelwood, Jr., joined the United States Army in 1960 and was enlisted for four years, and was Honorably Discharged in 1964.

He was united in holy matrimony with Betty A. Bentley on December 26, 1961, in Belzoni, MS. Their union was blessed with six children.

He was employed at Allis Chalmers for over 10 years and later employed at Schlitz Brewery for over 25 years. He and his family relocated to Hamden, CT; where he was employed with the State of Connecticut in Corrections for over 25 years.

Mr. Hazelwood was predeceased by his wife (Betty) after 35 years of marriage in December of 1996. He soon retired and returned back to his roots in Belzoni, MS; where he met and married Thelma Noble on September 3, 2005. Their union was blessed with a step-granddaughter and three stepchildren.

In his leisure time, Mr. Hazelwood enjoyed his time as Radio Personality for the Sunday Gospel hour at Radio Station WELZ -1460 in Belzoni, MS.

Mr. Hazelwood served on the following committees and organizations: Coach for Pop Warner Football, Deacon Board, Grand Poobah (Mason), WELZ —Disc Jockey, and Youth Mentor.

Mr. Hazelwood was a Social and Outgoing Man who loved life and loved his family. He embraced all that would come into his life. He loved sports, traveling, and meeting new people. He was also a fantastic dancer. He was indeed a special Man and a superb Grandpa which most of the grandkids lovingly called "Daddy", "Pops", or just plain old "Grandpa".

Mr. Hazelwood departed this life on May 8, 2019.

He was preceded in death by wife, Betty Hazelwood; son, Travis Hazelwood (Lynette); father, Aaron Hazelwood, Sr.; mother, Patricia Hazelwood; sisters, Teresa Wigley, Odean Childs (Dave), Verdia Mae Bass (Robert), Quen Ester Hazelwood, Mable L. Hazelwood; brothers, Willie Hazelwood, Sr., (Luella), Joseph Hazelwood, Sr., (Janice); nephew, Willie Hazelwood, Jr.; son-in-law, Jerome Gee (Constance); brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Hall (Frankie), Willie Harris (Jeannette), Bernice Allen (Georgia).

The funeral services of the late Mr. Aaron Hazlewood, Jr., Age: 80, of Belzoni, MS., will be Saturday, May 18, 2019. Mr. Hazlewood passed on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the South Sunflower County Hospital, Indianola, MS.

The public visitation will be at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Belzoni, MS., Friday, May 17, 2019, from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be Saturday 18, 2019 at the Shiloh M. B. Church (Deovelente), Belzoni, MS. at 11:00 a.m. The body will lie in state from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

The burial will be at the Beautiful Zion Cemetery; Goat Hill Road, Belzoni, MS.
