Mr. Willie Lee Hazelwood, Sr., son of Mrs. Pattie Hazelwood and the late Mr. Aron Hazelwood was born on January 2, 1930, in Sunflower County, MS.


He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Beauty Chapel M. B. Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Claybron. The family moved to Goat Hill Community where he united with Beautiful Zion M. B. Church, where he served as a faithful member and choir member. He later moved his membership to New Hope M. B. Church where he served as a choir member and deacon. He was also a member of the Delta Hummingbirds Gospel Singing Group where he lifted the name of his Lord through his melodious voice.


He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Louella (Starks) Hazelwood on April 26, 1958. To this union, one son was born.


He departed this life on Friday, November 8, 1991, at Humphreys County Memorial Hospital, Belzoni, MS.


He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Mrs. Louella Hazelwood; one son, Willie Lee Hazelwood, Jr., (Valisa); one grandson, Willie Lee Hazelwood, III; five godchildren; a loving mother, Mrs.Pattie Hazelwood; six sisters, Mrs. Theresa Wigley, Mrs. Frankie Hall (Nate), Mrs. Janette Harris (W. L.), Mrs. Verdia Bass (Robert), Ms. Quen Esta Hazelwood, Ms. Mable L. Hazelwood. One sister preceded him in death, Mrs. Odeen Childs (Dave); two brothers, Mr. Aron Hazelwood, Jr., (Betty), and Mr. Joseph Hazelwood; one adopted brother, Mr. Ira Gates; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends.


And God shall wipe away all tears from

their eyes; and there shall be no more

death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither

shall there be any more pain, for the former

things are passed away. Rev. 21:4
