Mrs. Verdia Mae Bass, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Hazelwood, Sr., was born on November 27, 1944, in Isola, MS.


She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Beautiful Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. H. Johnson. She later moved to Milwaukee, WI; in 1964 where she then united with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.


She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Robert Earl Bass, Sr. To this union there were three children and one step-child.


She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother until passing this life on Sunday, February 4, 1996, at St. Michael's Hospital.


She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Robert Bass, Sr.; one daughter, Brenda Hazelwood; one stepdaughter, Carlotta Freeman; two sons, Robert Earl Bass, Jr., and Michael Bass, Sr.; and six beautiful grandchildren, Corey Jones, Charmaine Hazelwood, Travon Haase, Chay Nate' Hazelwood, Robert Bass, III, and Michael Bass, Sr.; six sisters, Odean (Dave) Childs, who preceded her in death, Theresa Wigley, Frankie B. Hall, and Quen Esta Hazelwood, all of Milwaukee, WI; Janette (Willie) Harris of Detroit, MI; Mable Louise Hazelwood of Belzoni, MS; three brothers, Willie (Louella) Hazelwood, who preceded her in death, Aaron (Betty) Hazelwood, Jr., of Hamden, CT; Joseph Hazelwood, Sr., of Minneapolis, MN; five sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; one cherished aunt, Nannie Pearson; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
