Mrs. Ida Belle Ripley, 62, wife of B. F. Ripley, of RFD 5, Valparaiso, and a Gold Star mother, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in Porter Memorial hospital after an extended illness.
The decedent was born Oct. 26, 1889, at Ringgold, La., and had lived in Porter county for a number of years.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Methodist church, with the Rev. Henry V. Deale officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Friends may call at the LePell funeral home, 53 Monroe, from 2 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday.
Survivors include her husband, B. F. Ripley; her mother, Mrs. L. A. Tullis, Jamestown, La.; four daughters, Mrs. Jay H. Palmer, Mrs. John Muster and Mrs. James Bennett, all of Valparaiso and Mrs. C. W. Blake, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sons, Lester E. Thompson and Jeff Thompson, of Valparaiso and Jack E. Emery, Hobart; 22 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; six brothers Thomas Tullis, Logansport, La.; Ernest L. Tullis, West Monroe, La.; Earl D. Tullis, Shreveport, La.; James Tullis, Dallas, Tex.; John Tullis, McGhee, Ark., and Bernice Tullis, Jamestown, La., and five sisters, Mrs. A. G. Fry, Bastrop La.; Mrs. James Wood, Conshatta, La.; Mrs. M. H. Lary, West Monroe, La.; Mrs. George Wiggins, Jamestown, La. and Mrs. Charles Young, Jonesboro, La.
A son, Robert Lee Emery, was killed in Korea Oct 15, 1950, while fighting with the U. S. armed forces in Korea. His body was brought back to Valparaiso for burial. Last Decoration Day she placed a wreath on his grave in Graceland cemetery prior to services conducted by Charles Pratt Post, American Legion. Two sons of Mrs. Ripley served in World War II. They are Jack Emery, of Hobart, and Jefferson D. Thompson, of Valparaiso.
A grandson, Sgt. FC, John P. Palmer, of the U.S. Army, who has been in Germany for the past four years, recently arrived here to visit his grandmother before her death.
