Mary A. Bennett
Mary Ann (Emery) Bennett, 81, of Lafayette, passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital. Born December 6, 1931 in Piedmont, MO, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Ida Belle (Tullis) Emery. She married James K. "J.K." Bennett, Sr. on July 22, 1950 in Valparaiso, IN and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2011. Mary was a homemaker and a member of First Church of the Nazarene, where for many years she taught Sunday school. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was a devout Christian, and the most important things to her were faith, family, and friends.Surviving are her two children, James K. Bennett, Jr. (wife, Susan) of Colorado Springs, CO and Catherine Snouwaert (husband, Les) of Lafayette; a brother, Jack Emery of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Patrick Hilbun (wife, Angie) and Andrew Hilbun both of Lafayette, Nicholas Beard (wife, Belinda) of Greenwood, Julie Scanlon (husband, Jason) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Erica Kruger (husband, Chad) of Phoenix, AZ; and six great-grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Jack, Jordyn, Jamison, and June. She was preceded in death by ten siblings.Visitation from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. William Scott officiating.
