Thomas Angel was born about 1814 in Campbell Co., Tennessee, in an area that eventually became known as Angel Valley, near the present day community of Ketchen. He was the son of Archibald Andrew "Arch" Angel (1775-1847) and Nancy Ann Trammell(1782-1829), both buried in the Angel Family Cemetery (aka Angel-Wright Cemetery), on land that was once part of their family farm.

Thomas' father, Arch, was the son of William Angel II (1752-1853) and Mary Rachel Godwin (1752-1841). His mother, Nancy, was the daughter of Dennis Trammell (1759-1849) and Elizabeth Brassfield (abt 1757-abt 1820).

On Feb. 9, 1839, Thomas married Nancy Elswick (1843-1867) in Campbell Co., TN. She was the daughter of Jonathon Elswick (1796-1823) and Elizabeth Richardson (1798-1881).

Thomas and Nancy were married about 12 years and had five known children. They were Lucinda Angel (1817-1920), Florinda "Flora" Angel (1844-1897), Delila Angel (1845-1910), Andrew Jackson Angel (1849-1919) and Frances M. Angel (1852- ?).

Thomas died on Jan. 6, 1851 in Scott Co., TN, at the age of 37, just four years after serving as the executor for his father's estate. He is buried in the Angel Cemetery (aka Angel-Wright Cemetery) where his parents and six of his known siblings are buried.

Nancy, who did not remarry, died on Sept. 7, 1867 in Scott Co., TN at the age of 50. She too, is thought to be buried in the Angel Family Cemetery where her husband is buried. At the time of her death Nancy was living near Winfield, next to her brother-in-law, Andrew Elswick and his family. After her death, Andrew, his family and Nancy's five children (ages 14-24) all migrated (abt 1867-70) to Jefferson Co., Kansas.

The Angel Family Cemetery has 160+ unidentifiable graves, many of them with field stones for grave markers. It is thought that two of those stones belong to Thomas and his wife, Nancy, and that they are buried near his parents, Archibald and Nancy (Trammell) Angel.
