Silas J. Roberts sadly passed away in 1928, He was born in Chelmsford Massachusetts, on September 20th 1874 to Silas J. and Mary (Warley) Roberts immigrants from Plymouth, England. Silas was the first one in his family to be born in America. He married Mary B. DeCarteret who was an immigrant from The Jersey Isle, England. Silas worked in the quarries owned by his wife's family. Together Sy as he was known by his family, and his wife Mary had six children, Mrs. Mildred M. (Roberts) Patenaude of North Chelmsford, Mrs. Matilda A. (Roberts) (Patenaude) Gosselin of Tyngsboro, Mrs. Ruth (Roberts) Hall of Lowell, Mrs. Hazel B. (Roberts) Kolapakka of New Ipswhich, Mr. Howard S. Roberts of South Berry, and Herman S. Roberts of Westford. Mr. Roberts was the brother of Annie, Elizabeth, Matilda, Lavina, John, and Thomas. His Grave stone was one of the first ones erected in Fairview Cemetery.
