Flora Mae Asplund, 84, of Moline, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.
Flora was born on May 7, 1927, in Toulon to Horace “Bud” and Luella (Mock) Hackwith. She married William D. Asplund on Feb. 14, 1948, in Moline. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2000, in Rock Island.
Survivors include daughters Danielle (Charles) Green of Orinda, Calif., and Teresa Diane Hoskins of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Daniel (Sharon) Asplund of Lake Hughes, Calif.; a granddaughter, Aubury Hoskins; grandsons Brian Asplund and David Asplund; brothers Don Hackwith of Montana, Dean Hackwith of Louisiana and Louis “Dudley” Hackwith of Illinois; a sister, Mary McCloud of Illinois. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, four brothers and an infant sister.
