Lewis D. Hackwith

TOULON – Lewis D. "Dudley" Hackwith, 81, of Kewanee, formerly of Toulon, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Kewanee Care Home, where he resided since 2013.
Lewis was born February 11, 1935, in Toulon, to Horace G. "Bud" and Luella J. Mock Hackwith.
Surviving are one daughter, Paula (Rocky) Abrahamson of Anaheim, CA; one son, Paul Hackwith of Toulon; one sister, Mary Sue (Bill) McCloud of Buda; two brothers, Dean (Cynthia) Hackwith of Shreveport, LA, and Don (Brigetta) Hackwith of Great Falls, MT; two grandchildren, Melissa Hackwith of Galesburg, and Brandt Hackwith of Toulon; three great-grandchildren, Tyce, Breanna, and Evan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Betty Lou Hackwith; four brothers, James Hackwith, Robert Hackwith, Phillip Hackwith, and Charles Hackwith; and four sisters, June Boyd, Ruth Sater, Flora Asplund, and Carol Wirth.
Lewis worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria for 30 years. He enjoyed training horses, giving horseback riding lessons and buggy rides to everyone. Lewis loved traveling, ocean fishing, and especially his family who loved him and will dearly miss him. He enjoyed flying remote-controlled airplanes and was a member of the Radio Controlled Fly Club in Kewanee.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Toulon, with burial of ashes immediately following at Toulon Cemetery. Rev. Sidney Davis will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to memorial service.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
