Miss Florence Carson, 95, of 5 E. Garfield Ave., New Castle, formerly of Venango County, died at 5:30 am Sunday in Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle. She was born June 13, 1890, at Kennerdell, daughter of Robert and Mary Jaen Turk Carson.

She attended school there, graduated from Grove City College's business department, then worked for Cooper Energy Co. She lived in Grove City until she started working for the federal government under the national re-employment program in Harrisburg. In 1933 she transferred to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, where she was secretary under Civil Service. She retired in 1962. She lived in New Castle since 1979, coming there from Franklin. She was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove (City?), and transferred her letter to the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin when she moved here in 1964. She had a keen interest in church missions, knotting and sewing.

Surviving are a sister, Ivie I. Carson of New Castle; a niece, Mrs. Virginia S. Trax of Oil City; a grand-niece, Mrs. Marsha L. Spray of Durham, NC; and a number of other nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother and eight sisters.

Services will be at 11 am Wednesday at Gardinier Funeral Home with Rev. Charles McClunb (?) III of Franklin First Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Daniel Orris of Epworth Methodist Church, New Castle, officiating. Interment will ne in Franklin Cemetery.
