Son of Robert (b. Scotland) and Martha Jane (b. Ireland) Carson, he married Martha Jane Turk, was widowed, lived at 554 Grant St, Franklin, was a steel worker, died of myocardial degeneration, chronic myocarditis, general arteriosclerosis, and senility, per death certificate 53980, whose informant was Miss Minnie Carson of the same address. Buried Jun 28 1949.

In 1870 census, he was a laborer, lived with James and Louisa Sheasley, Sandycreek Township, PA. It says he was born in NY, but was corrected to Scotland.

Franklin News-Herald, Monday, Jun 27 1949:
Robert Carson, 97, of 554 Grant Street, died at his home at 3:45 am Sunday after a six-year illness. He was born in Scotland Dec. 2, 1851, son of Robert and Martha Jane Carson.

He came to the United States at the age of six and lived in this area about 75 years. He worked in the oil fields, and later as a steel worker. He was well known and had many friends here.

He married Martha Jane Turk, who died in 1925.

Surviving are children, Miss Minnie L. Carson, at home, Mrs. Harry E. Shoemaker, Oil City, Mrs. George B. Forsythe, Baden, PA, Mrs. H. W. Armstrong, Franklin, Mrs. Laura C. Jones, Oklahoma City, OK, R. H. Carson, Dunkirk, NY, Miss Florence Carson, Harrisburg, and Miss Ivie Carson, at home.

Services will be at 3 pm Tuesday with Dr. Frank S. McKnight, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
