Mary Schoenberg Braun
Mary Schoenberg was born September 29, 1893 on the family farm northwest of the village of Spring Hill, Stearns, Minn. She was the sixth MN; of the 9 children of Martin & Katherine (Gerads) Schoenberg.
Mary Schoenberg married Henry Braun on June 15, 1915 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Minn. It was a double wedding ceremony with Mary & Henry's siblings - Eleanore Braun married Willie Schoenberg. The marriage ceremony was performed by Fr Charles Pfeiffer.
Mary and Henry Braun lived on a farm in Section 17 of Spring Hill Township. On this farm, they raised seven children:
- Katherine Mary (1916-2011)
- Alfred Martin (1918-1985)
- Lucille Ann (1920-2015)
- Ralph Charles (1922-1994)
- Mary Ann (1926-2017)
- John Joseph (1928-2018)
- Martha Elizabeth (1931-)
In the 1940s, they retired and moved to Melrose, Minn. Mary Braun died in her home on January 22, 1965 and was buried in Section E of St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose, Minn.
Mary was survived by her husband and children; brothers Charles Schoenberg and Joseph Schoenberg; sisters Apollonia (Schoenberg) Welle, Minnie (Schoenberg) Ellering and Katie (Schoenberg) Athmann-Caspers.
Mary was preceeded in death by her parents, Martin (1923) and Katherine (1935) Schoenberg, her sister Anna (Schoenberg) Welle (1944) and brothers, Henry Schoenberg (1917) and Wilhelm "Willie" Schoenberg (1937).
Many of Mary Braun's relatives are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery including her aunt Katherina Schoenberg, uncle Peter Schoenberg and grandfather Johann Joseph Schoenberg, sister Apollonia Welle as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
