James Timmons (13786279)
Suggested edit: James Samuel Timmons was born 1848 in Ball Ground, Georgia. His father Samuel Perry was 35 and his mother Mary Polly Lay was 28. James came to the Medlan Ranch in 1869 with his cousins because his Uncle Alex was there with his family. Also Alex Timmon's daughter Eleanor was married to Archibald Medlan the owner of the ranch. In January 1873 James married Mary Susan Brogdon an orphan that lived on the ranch. She was a niece of Archie Medlan. Mary's mom Elizabeth died suddenly (don't know how or what her maiden name was) in 1866. Her dad Lorenzo Dow Brogdon and grandmother Susannah Frost Brogdon (Archie's mom) were killed by Commanches in January 1867 at Lorenzo's home south of Weatherford Texas. Mary was raised as an orphan on the Medlan Ranch with her three siblings. Later James and Mary ranched and farmed nearby in Tonk Valley and Mount Pleasant communities. Mary and James Timmons had nine children together before Mary died at the age of 36. Lorenzo Zachary, Mary Alice, Wyomer, Pinkey Perry, Jessie Leona, Annie Belle, Noble, Walter James and Susan Elizabeth. Mary is buried at Tonk Valley Cemetery on their ranch. James Timmons went back to his former home in Ballground Georgia and married Rhoda (Jennie) Jane Smith on July 21, 1897. She moved back with him to raise his family. They had two additional children together Hester Mae and Buelah. In 1918 they moved to Elbert Texas probably because several of his sons were already there with their families. James Samuel Timmons died on January 6, 1936 and is buried next to his second wife in the Elbert Cemetery.
