Death of the Widow of John Holtby – A Native of Western
The death of Mrs. Henrietta Holtby, widow of John Holtby, occurred at 5 o'clock this morning at her home 606 N. James Street. She had been ill for four months. Hardening of the arteries was the cause of heath. Mrs. Holtby was born in the town of Western on Sept 25, 1831. She was one of twelve children of Nathaniel and Clarinda Conklin, four of whom now survive, all living in the west. She was brought up in Western, and on Jan. 24, 1859, was untied in marriage with Mr. Holtby, who was a farmer. The couple lived in Western until 1866, when they moved into the town of Rome, resideing here for seven years. Then they lived in the town of Floyd, until Mr. Holtby passed away in 1903. Since his death, Mrs. Holtby has made her home in Rome, except that she spent two years in Cove, Ore. She leaves four children, Mrs. Elmer E. Evans, and Mrs., Albert E. Pierce of Rome, Mrs. Judd Geer of Cove, Ore., and John V. Holtby of Lansdowne, Pa.; also three brothers, and one sister, Harvey and Albert Conklin of Cove, Ore., Carpenter Conklin of Lake Mills, Wis., and Mrs. Mary Butterfield of Holt, Mont. The deceased was a member of the First M. E. Church of this city.

The funeral of Mrs. Henrietta Holtby was held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer E. Evans, at 2 p.m. today. The services were conducted by Rev. E. B. Toppings, pastor of the First M. E. Church. Member of the family acted as bearers. Interment was made in the Wright Settlement Cemetery.
