The regiment was attached to Defenses of Washington north of the Potomac River, until October 1862.

Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Dix's Peninsula Campaign (June 24 – July 7); Ordered to Folly Island, South Carolina, July 12. Siege operations against Forts Wagner and Gregg, Morris Island, South Carolina, and against Charleston and Fort Sumter August 17 – September 7. Bombardment of Fort Sumter and Charleston August 17–23. Operations against Charleston, South Carolina, and duty on Folly Island, South Carolina, until April 1864. Battle of Drury's Bluff (May 14–16).

Wounded on 16 May 1864, at Drury's Bluff, Virginia.

Discharged for disability on February 6, 1863, at DeCamp Hospital, David's Island, New York.

Filed for Invalid Pension on July 24, 1865 (Application No. 79014 and Certificate No. 55377. His wife filed for a widow's pension on July 18, 1908.
