FUNERALS
Mrs. Grace A. Thompson
Funeral services for Mrs. Grace A. Thompson were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Waggener & Campbell chapel by Rev. T. D. Allen of the Presbyterian church. During the service Miss Caroline Walchli and A. Dunsire sang two appropriate selections, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. W. E. Beaman. Many beautiful floral tributes were banked about the casket. Friends acting as pall bearers were W. T. Winston, F. O. Williams, Hans Walchli, Frank Calbick, C. C. Brintnall and C. W. Short. Interment was made in Conrad Memorial cemetery.
OBITUARY
Grace Conklin Thompson was born September 19, 1881, at Burlington, Ohio. When a young girl, she moved with her family to Fairview, and attended the Kalispell schools graduating from Flathead County high school in 1900. She then studied music in Chicago and became a talented vocalist. She returned to Kalispell where she taught voice and piano.
On September 4, 1907, Miss Conklin was married to John R. Thompson and they made they (sic) home here until 1917 when they moved to Whitefish. In 1921 they moved to the coast and lived in Seattle, Grants Pass, Medford and later in Portland.
Mrs. Thompson was an organizer and charter member of the Kalispell Music club.
She spent a part of the past winter in Kalispell and returned to Portland where she passed away at the home of her son March 2, 1940.
Mourning her loss are two daughters, Geraldine of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Alice Eva McKinstry of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Robert G. Thompson and J. Alden Thompson of Portland; four sisters, Mrs. Lena Caves, Resource, Saskatchewan, Canada; Mrs. Alice Colby, Burney, California; Mrs. Blanche Weidner, Troy, Montana; Mrs. Mary Jarvis, Bieber, California; and two brothers, James Conklin, Umapine, Oregon; Irving Conklin, South Nicolai, B.C. There are also three grandchildren.
