It still stands at the edge of Martin near Highway 18.

In 1931 he married Gladys Redmond from Fairfax, SD. They lived in various places in the Vetal area while Joe continued ranch work with his brothers. In 1940 they moved to a ranch on the edge of the badlands a mile north of Wanblee. There he and Gladys raised their family of six children, Jewell Dunham, Jackie Livermont, Joe Livermont jr., Joanne (Joan) Greenough, Jim Livermont, and Jay Livermont.
