Gladys Martha Redmond was born in Sloan, Iowa in 1902 and in 1912 the family moved to Fairfax, SD, where she grew up. She was the youngest child of William Redmond and Martha (McCandless)Redmond. Her brothers were James, Leo, Bert, and Lloyd. Her sisters were Cecelia Wedmore and Nettie Pike. She grew up and received her education in Fairfax, SD.

On April 23, 1931, she married Joe Livermont and they lived south of Vetal in various places, while Joe helped with work on the family ranch. In October 1940, they moved to a ranch north of Wanblee where they raised their family of six children; Jewell (Dunham), Jackie Livermont, Joe Livermont jr., Joan (Greenough), Jim Livermont, and Jay Livermont.

She belonged to the Wanblee Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Aid. She doted on her grandchildren and continued to live at home near Wanblee until at the age of 90, she moved to a nursing home in Rapid City. She lived there for two months until her death in 1993.
