William was born to Arie and Jaantje "Jane" (DeBruin)in the Pella area of Iowa. This was a farm family having horses, cattle, pigs and chickens. They rented farms in Prairie and Richland townships until 1914 when William was almost 10 years old, then they bought their own farm in the Peoria area. William's family along with 16 other families founded the Peoria Christian Reformed Church.

William had 11 siblings - Mary, John, Martin, Richard, Margaret, Jacob, Peter, Wilma, Gerrit, Herman, and Anna.

August 13, 1930 William married Marie Blom who was born Feb. 2, 1907 to Johannes and Neeltje (Van Zee) Blom.

They had four children -

John Arlo born Dec. 30, 1931 who married Joline De Boer.

Nella Mae born Jan. 24, 1935 who married George A. Elliott,Jr.

Arnold Jonathan born Apr. 1, 1937.

Vernon William born Jun. 21, 1944.

William was a pastor in the Reformed Church of America serving churches in Midland Park, New Jersey; Steen MN; Grand Rapids MI; Hull, Rock Rapids Pella and Everly, Iowa.

He passed away in Pella at the age of 86.
