Nelson Stuber, 90, of Morton, formerly of Tremont, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

He was born Oct. 26, 1923, at his home in rural Tremont to Peter and Emma Riggenbach Stuber. He married Ella Zimmerman on Jan. 12, 1947, in Morton.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ella Stuber of Morton; one daughter, Luanne Eigsti (Dan) Acton of Morton: two brothers, Paul "P.J." (Barb) Stuber of Tulare, Calif., and LaVern "Jug" (LaDonna) Stuber of Tremont; and two sisters, Loreen Haring of Pasadena, Calif., and Wrena Hill of Sandston, Va.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Paul Eigsti; six brothers, Harold, Hilmer "Hap," Lester, Eugene, Glenn and Floyd "Punk"; and one sister, Nola Koch.

Nelson worked as a farmhand in the Tremont area and then became a partner of Stuber Bros. Builders. In 1959, he started Nelson Stuber Builder home construction business, building over 100 houses in the Tremont and Morton areas. He also established Tazewell Floor Covering in Tremont, which later moved to Morton. He also built and managed rental units in the Tremont and Morton areas.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
