TREMONT - Nola Faith Koch, 86, of Tremont passed away at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Amy's Country Manor in Pekin.
She was born July 31, 1927, in Tremont to Peter and Emma Riggenbach Stuber. She married Clinton L. Koch on Dec. 28, 1957, in Tremont and he passed away March 30, 2007.
Surviving are four sons, Rodney (Evelyn) Koch, Alex (Lidia) Koch, Bradley (Pamela) Koch and Dirk (Erika) Koch of Tremont; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Nelson (Ella) Stuber, Paul "P.J." (Barb) Stuber and LaVern "Jug" (LaDonna) Stuber and two sisters, Loreen Haring and Wrena Hill.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Lester, Hilmer "Hap," Eugene, Glenn, Floyd and Harold.
Nola graduated from Tremont High School in 1945. She worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 14 years and drove a school bus for Tremont District 702 for several years. She spent many hours co-managing her husband's rental property business. She trained, inspired and directed her sons in many entrepreneurial ventures, including health foods, paper delivery, lawn mowing and BBQ chicken businesses. She was a "stay-at-home mom" who didn't stay at home, but diligently instructed her sons in the ways of the Lord while she was baking cookies, painting apartments or whatever her tasks were for the day.
She enjoyed quilting and traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. Nola was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont and a member of the Tazewell County Genealogical and Historical Society.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Tremont. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian World Relief or a charity of the donor's choice.
"Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised." (Proverbs 31:30) Her sons rise up and call her blessed.
