Jack R. Tatum, 77, of Corsicana, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Navarro Regional Hospital. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Orbison officiating. I.O.O.F graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., in Fairview Cemetery, Gainsville, Texas.

Jack was born in Gainesville, Texas, to the late Henry and Bess Tatum. He was a member of North Beaton Church of Christ where he served any way he could with prayer and a glad heart. Jack loved people and to see people smile and he always had a joke for whoever was around him.

Jack grew up playing football from fourth grade through high school, and then three years of service football for the U.S. Army in France. After his playing days were over, he coached Little League baseball and then refereed high school football with the Texas Referee Association. He enjoyed watching Navarro College baseball, football and basketball. He and Annett enjoyed going to the big twelve baseball tournament in Oklahoma City.

Jack and Annett came to Corsicana in 1985 and he began his career with the I.O.O.F. as Grand Secretary for the state of Texas. During that time he served as a representative to the Sovereign Grand Lodge of the World serving on the finance committee for a number of years. He retired in 2005 as the Grand Secretary Emeritus. He also served on several committees for Corsicana Chamber of Commerce.

He was preceded in death by his sisters: Maggie Akard, Ruth Aldridge, and Betty Johnson; and brothers, Ed Tatum and Bob Tatum.

Survivors include his wife, Annett Tatum; mother-in-law, Burney Henry; aunt, Betty Jean Hall; nephews: Webb Tatum and his wife Carol, Donnie Aldridge, and Earl Wayne Aldridge and his wife, Carol; a niece, Elaine Aldridge; other relatives and many friends. R14
