FULLERTON — Evelyn Evers, 91, of Fullerton died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Golden Living in Fullerton.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Allen Pingel will officiate. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery near Clarks. Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Evers was born Sept. 8, 1922, to Edwin and Rose (Combs) Knapp on the family farm south of North Star in Nance County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August Evers.

Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Glenda Evers of Central City and Jim and Kate Evers of Fullerton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Roger Hellbusch of Fullerton; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Shirley Knapp of Oro Valley, Ariz.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty D'Arcy of Orange, Calif., and Georgia and Bob Petersen of St. Paul; and one sister-in-law, Helen Knapp of Minden.

She grew up there and attended Midway District 50 thru the eighth grade and then attended Fullerton High School. As a young lady, she assisted the families in the neighborhood.

On April 4, 1942, she married August Evers at the Lutheran Parsonage in York. They farmed their married life near Clarks. She helped pick corn and always cooked for the hired men. In 1985 they left the farm and moved to Fullerton. On Nov. 5, 2003, Augie passed away. She remained living in Fullerton.

She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Eagles and American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed having coffee with her coffee bunch ladies, family get-togethers and dinners. She was a quiet, gentle lady who loved her kids and grandkids and all their activities.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Thad Hellbusch; two brothers, Wayne Perry and Lyle Knapp; and one sister, Laura Short.
