Allen Dysart Loter, 97, a native of Collingsworth County, died April 15, 2004, in Lubbock, Texas.

Loter was born December 25, 1906 in the Cottonwood Community and was the third child of the late James W. and Ella Dysart Later.

After graduation from Wellington (Texas) High School in 1924, he attended Harding College, Morrilton, Arkansas for one year.

He returned to Wellington and worked for Warrick Lumber and Oran Starkey Electric. He studied electricity by correspondence and became a Master Electrician. In 1938, he moved to Lubbock and soon began work for Fletcher Electric where he worked until he retired. He wired some major buildings in Lubbock including hotels and the Montgomery Ward building.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred ands siblings, John, Wesley and Ola.

Allen, a longtime member of the Broadway Church of Christ, is survived by his son, Richard and wife Arla, grandson, Gregory and sisters, Lena Hays of Linda, Texas and Margaret Harper of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
