Dorothy L. Ekman, 89, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.

She was born on August 3, 1923 in Hamilton, WA the daughter of Dewey and Jessie (Wilson) Soren. She was raised and attended school in Hamilton.

After school she worked at the Mount Vernon Cannery. Later, she managed the B&A tavern in Sedro-Woolley until 1971.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Gerald Ekman in Tacoma on May 12, 1961 and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley.

She loved fishing, camping and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Eagles FOE No 2069 since 1961.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Ronnie Dean (Joy), of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Robert Soren; daughters, Joann Hammer, of Twisp, WA, Sandra Richards, of Port Angeles, WA, Susan Ekman, of Sedro-Woolley, WA; brother, Dewey Soren, Jr., of Ferndale, WA; numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Jessie Soren; husband of 45 years, Gerald Ekman; sister, Helen Allison; and brother, Ray Soren

Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 1:00PM, at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley, WA with Pastor Richard Coursen presiding.

The family would like to acknowledge Dr.'s Steven Aldrich and Wayne Martin and staff for their care and professionalism.
