Effie Walter Oesterling, 76, of 119 Shanahan Drive, died at 6:20 am today at Butler County Memorial Hospital after a 4 month illness.
Born July 8, 1915, in Center Township, she was the daughter of J. Milton and Elsie VanGorder Blain.
Mrs Oesterling was a member of St Marks' Lutheran Church.
She was a past matron of the Maqueda Eastern Star 421. She was past president of the Butler Amaranth 145 and the Acadia Club. She was past president of the Meridian Women's Club and a former matron for the Meridian Drum and Fife Corps.
Her first husband, H. Raymond Walter, died Feb 17, 1969.
Surviving are her husband, Everett B Oesterling; a daughter, Mrs A. Robert (Peg) Tarcha of Butler; a son, Donald R Walter of Medina, Ohio; two brothers, Arthur G Balin and Richard P Blain, both of Butler; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded by a sister, Winona Sweesy, and two brothers, Wilbur A. and John Milton Blain, all of Butler.

Oesterling-Friends of Effie Walter Oesterling, of 119 Shanahan Drive, who died Saturday, March 28, 1992 will be received at the young Funeral Home, 137 W. Jefferson St., from 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday and Monday, Services will be held from the funeral home at 11 am Tuesday with the Rev John Adam of St Mark's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangments by Young.
