Mrs 'Winnie' Sweesy Dies; Deacon of Saint Andrews Church
Mrs Winona A. 'Winnie' Sweesy, 77, of 120 West Sunbury Road, died at 8:30pm yesterday in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Mrs Sweesy was a member and former deacon of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church. She was past matron of Maqueda Chapter 421, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Order of the Amaranth and a former member of the Butler Women's Club.
She had made her home during the winter months in Orlando, Florida, since 1980.
Born in Butler, December 29, 1909, she was the daughter of J Milton and Elsie G VanGorder Blain.
Surviving are her husband, Fred D Sweesy, whom she married Nov 25, 1937; two sons, Thomas L Sweesy of Saxonburg and Gary F of Butler RD 3; a daughter, Nancy G Sweesy of Alexandria, Va: two brothers, Arthur G and Richard P Blain, both of Butler; a sister, Mrs Everett (Effie) Oesterling of Butler; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Wilbur and John Milton Jr preceded her in death.
SWEESY- Friends of Winona A Sweesy, 120 West Sunbury Rd, who died Monday, November 2, 1987 will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E North St, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday from the funeral home, with the Rev J Bruce Byers, pastor of Saint Andrews UP Church officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Butler County Memorial Park. Arrangements by Thompson-Miller.
