She received her grade school training in the country school from which she graduated. Nora was the first pupil to graduate from her district school, and the only former pupil to go back and teach the home school from which she graduated.
She entered the Belleville City High School in the fall of 1898, graduating in the spring of 1902.
Nora taught in the rural schools in the grades and high school of the smaller towns in the county, Courtland, Munden, and Narka.
Nora attended the State Teachers College of Emporia, and upon her graduation returned to Belleville and taught in the fifth grade for several years. She later attended Chicago University as a special student, taking short story writing. She attended Drake University, Des Moines, Ia., studying expression and platform work.
Nora was a member of the Presbyterian church, having united with the church in June of 1900, while attending summer school at Des Moines, Ia. She was a past president of the Belleville high school Alumni Association 1904 and 1905. She was business manager of the Aurora, the first high school annual to be put out by Belleville high school. She was a member of the Eastern Star and served as its scretary for several years. She was a member of the Security Benefit Association, Past Noble Grand of the Rebekka Lodge, Past Oracle of the Royal Neighbors. Nora was city librarian in Belleville for several years. Was appointed chairman of the 6th District Kansas Library Association.
For the past few years Nora has made her home at the Estelle Care Home in Clifton, Kan. She passed away July 25, 1964, at the age of 85 years, eight months, and seven days. She leaves to mourn her passing her brother, Jim Creighton of Belleville, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Douglas Barnes from the Tibbetts Bros. Funeral home at 10 a.m. July 28, 1964, and burial was in the Belleville cemetery.
