THOS. CREIGHTON INJURED BY TRUCK, DIES AT HOSPITAL

Arrangements have not been competed for the funeral of Thomas Creighton, 77, well known retired farmer of this city, who died at a local hospital at 8:52 o'clock this morning from injuries received when he was struck by a truck while crossing South Main Street here six weeks ago. Advices are awaited from relatives as to the shipment of the body to his old home in Belleville, Kansas.

Mr. Creighton, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Creighton, deceased was born in Montreal, Canada, March 1, 1856, and came to the United States in 1869, when he located to Victoria county and resumed his farming pursuits south of here. Three years ago he moved to a point a few miles east of Victoria and continued his farming operations, retiring about a year ago and establishing the residence on East Goodwin Avenue in this city. He was highly esteemed.

Mr. Creighton's wife, Mrs. Jennie Creighton died in Belleville in 1894. Surviving are three sons, John E. of Denver, Colo., and Roy F. and Chas. F. of Victoria; three brothers, John of Belleville, P. W. of Yuma, Ariz., and James Creighton of New Mexico; and seven sisters, Mrs. Kate Lewis of New York City, Mrs. Mary Bailey of Salina, Kans., Mrs, Madge C. Manbeck of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. William Nichols of Lamour, Minn., Misses Annie and Nora D. Creighton of Belleville, and Mrs. F. J. Hardenbrook of Chicago. A daughter Miss Mary Creighton died at the age of 16 at Belleville in 1899.

Thomas Creighton, oldest child of a family of 13, the son of John and Catherine Creighton was born at Toronto, Canada, March 1, 1856.

He came with his parents to the states in 1869 located in Liberty township, Republic county near Chester, Neb. He stayed with his parents on this farm until he was 21 years of age, when he took a homestead near Talmo, Kansas.

Shortly after this he was married to Jennie Feasel. Four children were born to this union, one daughter and three sons.

Mrs. Creighton died in 1894 and the only daughter in 1899. But Mr. Creighton kept the home together and cared for his three little boys. In 1909 Mr. Creighton moved to Victoria, Texas. Here in the new Texas home the little family enjoyed health and happiness surrounded by good neighbors. Mr. Creighton's life time occupation was farming. About a month ago he was hurt by an automobile and was taken to a hospital where he died March 28, 1933, at the age of 77 years and 27 days. He was a member of the Methodist church.

His death leaves three sons, John and Roy and Charley of Victoria, Texas. He also leaves seven sisters and three brothers.

The funeral was held at Bachelor chapel, Sunday, April 2, and was conducted by the Rev. J. G. Roberts of the Methodist church. Internment was made in the cemetery of Talmo.
