Born April 20, 1936 in Clifton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Marcus Erwin Bates and Esther (Brown) Bates and the wife of Charles Wayne Parrish, Sr.
Retired from Wal-Mart, she was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Charles Wayne Parrish, Jr. of Spartanburg, and Joseph A. Parrish and his wife Timmi of Roebuck; two brothers, Marcus Bates, Jr. of Prosperity, SC, and Bill Bates of Hendersonville, NC; two sisters, Jackie McEntire of Weaverville, NC, and Ann Sanders of Greenville, SC; and three grandchildren, Alex Parrish, Abby Parrish, and Josie Parrish, all of Roebuck.
Visitation was held 12:00-1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Floyd s Greenlawn Chapel.
Graveside services followed at 1:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Carroll Caldwell and Mr. Eddie Whitaker.
