Esther Bates
INMAN--Esther Brown Bates, 79, formerly of Converse Circle, Spartanburg, died Sept. 9, 1988, in an Inman Nursing Home.
A native of Pacolet, she was the widow of Marcus E. Bates and the daughter of the late Benjamen and Leticia Horne Brown. She was a member of Converse Baptist Church and a retired employee of Clifton Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include two sons, Marcus E. Bates Jr. of Bartlesville, Okla., and Billy G. Bates of Hendersonville, N.C.; three daughters, Jacqueline McIntyre of Weaverville, N.C., Leticia Parris of Roebuck, and Ann Sanders of Greenville; two brothers, Boyd Brown of Roadhiss, N.C., and Victor Brown of Pacolet; three sisters, Clara Brown of Pacolet, Jessie Page of Summerville, and Blanche Arnold of Pacolet; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
