Otto also had five (5) half-siblings; Kate Lucy, George Ervin, Mary Eula, Ana Inez, & Danile Hill "Little Dan"; all whose mother was Nancy Jane (Hendricks) Hendrix.
Otto married Marie Faye Whitfield on June 1, 1941, in Bokoshe, LeFlore County, Oklahoma. Together they had 4 children; an Infant son (stillborn), Roger Phillip, Cheryl Diane, & Steven Elbert.
Otto enlisted in the US Army on May 3, 1944 and went to Fort Sill, Comanche County, Oklahoma on May 5, 1944, for his basic training. He shipped over seas to France and fought in the Battle of the Bulge from late 1944 thru late 1945.
On the day Otto passed, He got up about sun rise and planted 5 rows of potatoes, laid out 5 more rows to be planted, diced potatoes to plant the next day, then mowed the yard. After finishing the yard, he decided to go fishing at the pond; however, on going up to the pond, he decided that the pasture between the house and the pond needed mowing, so he got the tractor and brush hog and mowed approximately 5 acres. On finishing the pasture, he went to the house and cleaned up and took a nap. On completing the nap, he then went back to the pond and fished a while. It was Wednesday night and there was a Business meeting at the Church, so he and Marie went to Church for the meeting. After church, they came home and he was sitting in his favorite recliner eating a bowl of ice cream when his heart gave out on him. It was approximately 10:00pm.
