Mrs. James Baxter passed away quite suddenly Tuesday evening at her home east of Benton, of paralysis. Her untimely death cast a gloom over the entire community. She was the wife of James Baxter after whom the famous Baxter mine was named, and to be taken away just at the time when one is in a position to enjoy life is indeed sad. She was a good wife and a true neighbor.
She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband and six children, viz. Mrs. Bainbridge of Benton, and Thomas, Peter, Charles, Frank and Nellie, also four brothers, Patrick, Frank and Peter Whaley of Benton, and Samuel Whaley of Cuba City.
The funeral services were held at Benton Thursday. Rev. J.C. Bergen officiating.
