Charles P. Baxter, 68, died in a local hospital this morning following an extended illness. For the last year he had been making his home with a daughter, Mrs. Millard May, at 1035 E. Walnut street.
He was a native of the town of Benton, near Cuba City and was married there to the former Josephine Peebles. Mrs. Baxter died 10 years ago.
Survivors are his daughter here; two sons, Austin of Cuba City and Merlin, Darlington; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Baxter, Dubuque, Ia.
The body will be removed this evening from the Dupont-Malcore funeral home to the Haudenscheild funeral home in Cuba City, where services will be held Thursday in St. Rose church. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery in Cuba City.
