On Sunday morning, Jan. 18, the grim messenger of death entered our midst and claimed as its victim a young wife and mother, Mary Ellen Dunn, youngest daughter of James Baxter of this place. The deceased was born in the north of the town of Benton, Nov. 24, 1890. About seven years ago, shortly after the death of her mother, she moved with her father to town where she has since resided.
On June 30th, 1909, she was united in marriage to John Dunn, and to this union two children were born, Francis aged three years and an infant who died about twenty four hours after the death of its mother.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband and little son, father, one sister, Mrs. H.W. Bainbridge and four brothers, Tom, Pete, and Frank of this place and Charley of Elk Grove.
She was a devout member of the Catholic church and ever true to her religion and died trusting in the faith of a Divine Savior. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Patrick's church, Rev. Bergen officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. The pallbearers were Peter McDonald, M. McGuire, Josie Vaughn, Bert Meloy, Will Burns, W. Weiskircher, Owen Swift, James McCarty, W. McCrea, Alvin Side, Felix Cassidy and John Meloy.
