He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence I., brothers Marvin, Guy and Earl; step-brother Leo and step-sister Orvetta.Survived by his son Daniel. Also survived by sister Gladys Kohler; step-sister Myrtle Reed; brother-in-law Richard (June) Lenz; sister-in-law Helen May Miller and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.Retired heavy equipment operator with Swartzman & sons, Anoka. Funeral service 1 PM Friday July 27, 2012 at Dare's Funeral Home 805 Main St. NW Elk River, 763-44--1212.Visitation 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home on Friday.Interment Orono Cemetery, Elk River.The Star NewsElk River, MinnesotaAugust 15, 2012Eldon Wayne Beard, 86, passed from this life on July 23, 2012. Funeral services were held July 27, 2012, at Dare's Funeral Home in Elk River with interment at Orono Cemetery.Eldon, born September 4, 1925, was one of eight children born to parents William and Adelia Beard at the family farm in Madison County, Iowa. Eldon attended a one-room school, Walnut #7, in rural Madison County where he graduated from 8th grade. Eldon's father died when Eldon was 13 years old and he and a younger brother and two older brothers had to maintain the family farm and make a living for the family.In 1947 the family moved to Houlton's Ranch outside of Elk River, Minnesota, and Eldon and his brothers farmed and ran a large dairy operation.He was united in marriage to Florence Irma Lenz on April 16,1949 at the Methodist Church in Elk River. He then worked various jobs until 1954 when he went to work for Swartzman's Salvage in Anoka. He was yard foreman for 32 years until he retired in 1987.Eldon was a loving, faithful, devoted husband, father, brother and uncle. He will sadly be missed by his son, Danny of Elk River, two sisters, Myrtle Reed, Eagle Grove, IA and Gladys Kohler, Winterset, IA and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, his parents, brothers, Leo, Earl, Marvin and Guy and one sister, Orvetta.
