DEATH TAKES MRS. LOVETT
Funeral Services For Iowa Citian Set Tuesday Afternoon
Mrs. Orvetta V. Lovett, 39, wife of Dr. Duane W. Lovett, of 1713 East Court street, died at 4:10 p. m. Sunday at University hospital, following a brief illness. Death was attributed to acute encephalitis.
Mrs. Lovett was the former Orvetta Smith, born August 7, 1915, at Mackinaw, Ill., the daughter of P. F. and Adelia Looney Smith. Moving with her parents to Winterset at the age of two years, she spent much of her childhood with an aunt, Mrs. John Beard.
Her marriage to Doctor Lovett took place August 8, 1937, and the couple had resided in Iowa City since that time. Mrs. Lovett was a lifelong and active member of the Methodist church. She also was a member of the Iowa City Craft Guild.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Charles Dean, and a daughter, Marcia Anne, at home; her father P. F. Smith; her mother, Mrs. Adelia Beard, Zimmerman, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Reed, Kevil, Ky., and Gladys Beard, Princeton, Minn.; five brothers, Leo Smith, Princeton, Ill., Earl Beard, Zimmerman, Minn., Guy Beard, Winterset, Eldon Beard, Elk River, Minn., and Marvin Beard, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beckman’s, with the Rev. Robert R. Sanks of the First Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.
