WINTERSET, Iowa - Guy Michael Beard, 82, of Charles City died March 1, 2004, at the Chautauqua Nursing Home, Charles City. Burial in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to his family. Living family members include: a son, Larry Beard (Karen), of Lima, Ohio; one daughter, Alma Beard, of Charles City; three brothers: Leo Smith of Peoria, Ill., Eldon Beard (Flossie) of Elk River, Minn., and Marvin Beard (Ellen) of Aurora, Col.; two sisters: Myrtle Reed of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Gladys Kohler of Winterset, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Beulah Howell of Winterset; as well as four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Guy Michael Beard, 82, died March 1, 2004 at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Nursing Home in Charles City.

Guy Beard was born Sept. 22, 1921 to William and Adelia (Looney) Beard of Truro. On March 16, 1941, he married Mary LaVaun Beedle in Winterset. He had been a county bridge crew foreman for the Madison County Secondary Roads Department for 35 years. He also was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Guy was a lifelong Winterset area resident until moving to Charles City in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Earl Beard; and a sister, Ovetta Lovett. He is survived by one son, Larry Beard (Karen) of Lima, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Alma Beard of Charles City; three brothers, Leo Smith of Peoria, Ill.; Eldon Beard (Flossie) of Elk River, Minn.; and Marvin Beard (Ellen) of Aurora, Colo.; two sister, Myrtle Reed of Eagle Grove and Gladys Kohler of Winterset; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Collins Oak Park Chapel, Winterset, Iowa with Rev. Robert Barrick, officiating. Music: Meredith Young Easter, Organist, Pat Nelson, Soloist and Nicki Zacharias, Soloist. Burial will be in Winterset.
