J. A. DAUGHERTY
---J. A. Daugherty, eighty-four years old, Macon county pioneer, was stricken with apoplexy and died suddenly at his farm home last night after the evening's work. He had been about his chores at the barn, returned to the house and while sitting in his chair, was stricken and died immediately.
---He was born and lived all his life on the same farm, which has never been out of the Daugherty family since entered from the government by his grandfather and has had but three owners.
---He is survived by his wife, one son, M.S. Daugherty, three daughters, Fannie May Daugherty, Mrs. James Smith and Mrs. Alice Billings, all of La Plata. He is one of eleven children of whom only S.W. Daugherty and Mrs. J.B. Epperson of La Plata, survive.
---Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the New Harmony church by Rev. J.L. Shoemaker of La Plata.
