Hi Tom.
I really appreciate your website and the work you've put into it. I think I found a memorial for another of your missing Vermont soldiers # 133385192.

Glad to help. You may use my photo for your project. I added a memorial for Miriam West. BTW, I had contact from someone about my Edmund Hand who served in the U.S. Civil War. He was born in Vermont but served Wisconsin unit. Might be same project.

RE: Frank Gainley/Gagne
Thank you sir for your respectful maintenance of my ggg grandfathers memorial page. Bless you. He was born in Canada under the name Francois Gagne and for some reason chose to change his name to Franklin Gainley when he became a naturalized citizen in Vermont in 1858. It somehow evolved to Frank S. Gainley. I am guessing he wanted to show how much he loved this country by fighting for it. I can only imagine what it was like for him in those days. So much hardship was endured to give me the life that I live today. I am grateful for his sacrifice and others who continue to sacrifice so that we may live in this great country. Thank you, again.

Hi Tom,

Good job! I declined your edits because they would have linked my memorials to the wrong memorial for Solomon and made the links manually (to both Solomon and Sally).

You might want to link your memorial for Solomon to his wife Sally (Peters) Walker Memorial #80952653.

And thanks for the new information.

Janet

RE: Solomon Dunlap
Thanks very much, Tom.

You know, you don't have to wait for the owner of the previous memorial to transfer it to you. You found the actual graves, so you can create the cemetery on find-a-grave and create memorials for the people you know are buried there. Then if you contact find-a-grave, they will merge the existing memorial with yours or delete it altogether.

The administration at find-a-grave always supports the person who finds the actual burial rather than the person who created the burial unknown, regardless of how much earlier the "unknown" memorial is.

"Unknown burials" are a plague as far as I'm concerned for precisely the reason we're both encountering now. They make things complicated and unwieldy, and sometimes the interactions - asking the other contributor to delete their memorial - creates bad feelings. So, if you have any trouble with this, please contact katrina@findagrave.com and she'll resolve the issues.

Solomon Dunlap
Hello Tom,

I see that you've photographed the gravestone for Solomon Dunlap, but the memorial says "burial unknown" and the stone is not shows in the cemetery where it is placed. Please have this situation corrected and I'll be happy to make the links.

Thank you,

Janet Muff

RE: Leroy Byron Nichols Request
Hi Tom. Thank you so much for checking on the James A. Bean location. We went to Calvary yesterday so it would have been perfect had they had a record for him being there. I truly appreciate it. I will send a note to the manager of the memorial so they know he isn't there too. The best news is that on our way to Calvary we made a quick stop at Odd Fellows so my friend could fill a request. While we were driving to the location she needed, I had spotted a Nichols memorial from the car and it was the one you requested where the location in the memorial seemed incorrect. I don't know if you receive notification when a request is fulfilled, but wanted to let you know that I found it. Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend!

RE: Leroy Byron Nichols Request
I believe I recently added a memorial (181198492) with photo for one of your missing soldiers. Additionally, I will likely be at Calvary as early as tomorrow. If you have the time to call (they only give information to family) and get a location for James A. Bean, I'm happy to get a photo for you. Their # 323-261-3106 and they open at 8am pst. Have a great night!

Leroy Byron Nichols Request
Hi Tom. I took a picture of the area at Odd Fellows as there is no visible headstone in that section for him. Before I post that, I wanted to bring something to your attention. I am concerned the location in his memorial is incorrect. If you look up Corp. Richard Bracht at Odd Fellows, he is listed in the exact same location in his memorial as your request. If you wouldn't mind calling to confirm he's there and the location, I would be happy to take the picture for you at that or any other LA area cemetery. If you find the location is correct, please let me know and I'll post the picture I took or I can post now and remove whichever you prefer - just let me know. Thank you, USCgirl

Lexington Baptist Cemetery (Yankee Cemetery)
GPS: 44.445814, -93.697764 or L/L: 4426'44.9"N 9341'52.0"W
In general, the Lexington Baptist Cemetery is located on a gravel, field road, 500 feet north of Hwy 26 (aka Lexington Road). This cemetery is on the north side of Clear Lake. This cemetery is visible via Google Maps/Earth.
Directions from Montgomery, MN: Take Hwy 26/Lexington Road west approximately 6.5 miles. This will place you on the north side of Clear Lake. When you past the intersection of Cty Rd 32 going North and Hwy 26, take the first right unto a field road. The cemetery is at the end of this road, less than 500 feet north of the highway.

Hi Tom,

It has been a while I hope you and yours are blessed and well.

He is a cousin of mine, the website was originally created by US Affairs office and I wrote them to ask them for transfer.

I just added the info as to him and his family in the first paragraph.

Thanks

Douglas A. Robinson
