Blood Poisoning and Pneumonia Fatal To Beaumonter Saturday
Funeral services for William Edward Howell, 55, of 388 Cartwright avenue, who died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday of complications which followed an attack of blood poisoning were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Calvary Baptist church. Rev. W.D. Wyatt, pastor of the church, officiated. Interment, under the direction of the Roberts Undertaking company , was in Magnolia cemetery. Pallbearers were: J.O. Stovall, R.D. Maxwell, H.C. Davidson, Sam Morgan, Herbert Carr, and H.H. Carr. Mr. Howell's death was caused by pneumonia which developed while he was under treatment for blood poisoning in his hand which set up after he had stuck a splinter in it. He was a native of Louisiana and had resided for the past nine years in this city where he worked as a carpenter. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia Howell; three sons, Thurman, Thurston and Bill Howell; four daughters, Mrs. J.A. Redman, Mrs. Joe Lardy and Miss Evelyn Howell, all of Beaumont, and Mrs. F.A. Laurent of Port Arthur, and seven grandchildren.

Beaumont, Dec. 12. -- William E. Howell, 55, carpenter, died this afternoon at a hospital. He was the father of Mrs. M.A. Laurent of Port Arthur.
Mr. Howell ran a splinter in his hand Monday and blood poisoning set in. Later pneumonia developed.
A resident of Beaumont for nine years, Mr. Howell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Howell; three sons, Thurman, Thurston and Bill Howell; and four daughters, Mrs. Laurent and Mrs. J.A. Redman, Mrs. Joe Lardy, and Miss Evelyn Howell, all of Beaumont.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist church. Rev. W.D. Wyatt will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery under direction of Roberts.
