Dry Creek -- Funeral services for Charles Howell, 65, will be held at 4 p.m. today (May 18) in the Dry Creek Congregational Church with the Rev. Seth Baggett and the Rev. Preston Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of the Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder. The body will be at the family residence until the time of services. Mr. Howell died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday in a DeRidder hospital. Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. E.J. Mitchell of Houston, Mrs. Brose Fontenot of Ville Platte, Mrs. Everett McCollum of Beaumont and Mrs. Ronald Tyler of Groves, Tex.; four sons, Fred Howell of Basile, J.D. Howell of Abilene, Tex., Russell Howell of Beaumont, and Johnny Howell of the U.S. Navy. also, one brother, Mid Howell of Lake Charles; five sisters, Mrs. Mae Ryan and Mrs. Bessie Stanley, both of Lake Charles, Mrs. Clara Harper of Sugartown, Mrs. Pallie Self of Pineville, and Mrs. Vicie Huckaby of Port Arthur; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
