A year after the death of her husband, Sarah and younger sister Henrietta Jane, went to Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri with Sarah's three young sons. Their two brothers had already established themselves. Sarah first resided with brother George B. Wood in his home at 309 South Orchard street, then 318 South Orchard and later at 412 East Third Street where she passed away.
