2nd w/o William Loftus Jarvis.

Birth: 8th of eleven known children in Harper's Ferry, Jefferson county, Virginia now West Virginia.

Father: John Wood b: 2 JAN 1808 in Frederick county, Virginia.
Mother: Casandra Hess Brown b: 19 JUL 1814 in Warren county, Virginia.

Grandfather Alex Wood was a youthful Revolutionary War veteran.

Census: 1850, age 3 in district 28, Jefferson county, Virginia, now West Virginia with parents & eight siblings.

Moved west to Tenmile district, Harrison county, Virginia, now West Virginia, in 1851 with family via covered wagon along Northwest Pike (now U S #50).

Henrietta Jane Wood settling within 1/2-mile of what became Point Pleasant Methodist Episcopal church and cemetery following removal of log church building of 1837 creation, as Mount Morris church, for railroad construction ca 1855 along north side of Northwest Pike. She attended what was known as Point Pleasant free school #7, a one room log building reportedly in use in 1830 and earlier, where her oldest brother, James and sister, Sarah both taught.

The 1860 Federal census does NOT list her, her mother, nor some of the other siblings, however the 1880 census has her in household of Samuel Boggess (1811-1888), husband of her oldest sister, Sarah Elizabeth Wood, (1835-1918) with their three sons.

Henrietta, as told me by "Betty"(Boggess) Watson of Harrison county, West Virginia, moved to Carthage with widowed sister and three sons, with brother Geo B Wood at 309 south Orchard in 1889. They lived at 318 south Orchard when she met and in 1890 became second wife of William Loftus Jarvis, who was also born in Virginia, now West Virginia.

On 1900 Federal census Henrietta is found at Vernon Town, Wilbarger county, Texas, and 1910 at Bryon, Coal county, Oklahoma where her husband died in 1918 and buried in Centrahoma cemetery, Centrahoma, Coal county, Oklahoma.

William had six children by his first marriage, however they had no known children.

She was at home in Claremore, Rogers county, Oklahoma when sister Sarah died June 28, 1918, then but three of ten known siblings surviving. Robert Albert Wood (1849-1926) died 1926 in Dallas, Dallas county, Texas, she died January 1928, then brother John Henry Wood (1839-1928) died in April 1928 at his son's home in Clinton, Clinton county, Iowa leaving only George Brown Wood (1852-1941) of Carthage alive till February 1941.

Mrs Henrietta J Jarvis passed away 2 January 1928 at her home in Claremore, Rogers county, Oklahoma.

Her body was removed to Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri where her younger brother resided since 1882.

Henrietta's funeral was held at Carthage, Missouri with burial in younger brother, George Brown Wood's Park cemetery plot.

Her parents and four siblings are buried at Methodist church's 1964 abandoned cemetery, Point Pleasant, which we restored in 2004 in upper Tenmile district, Harrison county, West Virginia, formerly Virginia.
