M 2nd g,grandmother.
w/o John, mother of eleven known children, grandmother of mayors: 1908 Clarksburg, West Virginia, Edward John Wood and 1918 Carthage, Missouri, Samuel Cleveland Boggess.
Broken & partially buried stone NOT found April 2003 by Bertha Webb & David Owings, but she found it April 2004, with husband's broken & buried stone found the following month, May 2004.
Birth: 1st of six known children in Warren county, Virginia
Cassandra was reportedly married December 1832 in a 2 to 3 day wedding celebration, receiving five slaves from father, moving to Jefferson county, Virginia about 1845.later taking three to Harrison county, returning them to their own parents in 1859.
Census: 1850, age 40 in district 28 [Harper's Ferry] Jefferson county, Virginia, now West Virginia, with husband and nine kids.
Her brother Henry, married husband's younger sister Eleanor S about 1835 (making them double sister-in-laws), they having a couple boys before he died. She then married Joe Johnson having a couple more sons and who traveled from Jefferson county with John and Cassandra to Tenmile district, Harrison county by covered wagon in 1851 where husband John Wood's sisters Jane, in 1828 and Florenda in 1832 had married Martin brothers and were farming.
Her father reportedly freed his slaves about 1841 and her favorite uncle or brother, John, died in 1851.
It appears Cassandra is not on the census with John in 1860, which may make some sense since the two youngest boys, George Brown and Charles Homer are not listed as well. They may have been somewhere else when the census was taken. There is an Elin in the household, age 45, but it is doubtful that the census taker confused name Cassandra with Elin.
