OBITUARY:
MRS. RUTH AMELIA MARTIN, 66, wife of Jacob A. Martin, Smithsburg R. 2, Md., died at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the Waynesboro Hospital.
She was taken ill August 26 and was admitted to the hospital September 1.
She was born in Adams County, the daughter of Charles and Maggie (Riley) Harbaugh. Her early life was lived in Adams County.
The Martins were married in 1906. In 1917 they moved to Smithsburg R. 2 and resided at the present residence for the last 18 years.
She was a member of Harbaugh's United Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband she is survived by seven children, Gilbert N., Mrs. John W. Fitz, Jr., both of Smithsburg R. 2; Leroy J., Waynesboro R. 1; Earl O., Camp Hill; Mrs. Charles J. Mentzer, Waynesboro; Miss Cleo I. Martin, at home; Clyde H., Hyattsville, Md.; six grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Hess, Smithsburg R. 2; Mrs. Mary Ingles, Sherman Oaks, Cal.; Mrs. Harriett Brown, Long Island, N.Y.; Ray Harbaugh, West Valley, N.Y.; Ivan Harbaugh, Waynesboro; Paxton Harbaugh, Waynesboro R. 4, and Riley Harbaugh, Littlestown, also survive.
Funeral services Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, in charge of Rev. Victor H. Jones. Interment in Harbaugh's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 o'clock Wednesday night.
