Mother Adams, daughter of Capt. S.E. Northington, 13th Tenn Cav., born in Mountain City, then Taylorsville, moved to Pandora (Doe Valley) at an early age. There her father operated a forge and employed many funny characters. The funny incidents she always remembered, and entertained her children and grandchildren with the witty stories of "Old Hale," Dood and others. Mother Adams always looked on the bright side of life. Was always jovial even when sick even unto death. Her outstanding trait of character was love and kindness, and was taught to her children.
