DR. S. E. NORTHINGTON came to Emporia in April, 1879. He was born in Wilkesboro, Wilkes County, N. C., March 15, 1851, his parents removing to Taylorsville, Tenn., when he was about three years of age. In 1876, Dr. Northington settled in Raleigh, N. C., where he remained until he came to Emporia. He had previously studied dentistry at Abingdon, Va., and attended the Philadelphia Dental College, commencing practice at Taylorsville, his native town, in May, 1874. Here the doctor was also married to Luis Juda Ingram, a native of Wataga County, N. C. He is a member of A., F. & A. M., K. of H., and Methodist Episcopal Church.
Son of Sarah Francis Needham and Captain Samuel E. Northington. 1m to Judith L. Ingram on 11 Nov 1874, in John City, Washington County, TN. 2m to Catherine Belle Funk on 25 Dec 1900 in Emporia, Lyon County, KS. He died from cardiac failure accompanied by chronic nephritis.
Burial in Forest Hill cemetery. He is survived by three brothers, J. W. Northington and J. G. Northington, and H. A. Northington, and a sister, Mrs. Laura Widby.
